About your teacher
My name is Gina Louise Smart, and I'm a bilingual teacher, poet, and creative writing mentor living in Sweden. I hold a degree in English Linguistics and Psychology, a Postgraduate qualification in English Teaching from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, and have attended specialist courses in Bilingualism at Stockholm University in Sweden.
For more than six years, I've had the joy of teaching both children and adults — guiding learners all the way to C1 level proficiency — from many different backgrounds, helping them grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression. My background in English Linguistics gives me a deep understanding of how language works, which shapes the way I approach every lesson, whether I'm supporting an adult refining their advanced English skills or a young writer finding their voice for the very first time.
As the author of the short poetry collection An Orchid's Truth, I've experienced firsthand how powerful words can be, and I love sharing that magic with writers of all ages.
Creative writing has always been my passion, and I truly believe it gives people lifelong skills — from communication and imagination to problem-solving and confidence. With the advancement of AI, children in particular are relying on these systems and forgetting their own creative abilities. Through my lessons, I aim to create a space where both adults and children feel free to explore their ideas, discover their unique voice, and feel genuinely proud of the work they produce.
My hope is that everyone who joins my courses not only learns how to write creatively, but also discovers the joy and excitement that comes from bringing their own ideas to life on the page — increasing both confidence and productivity in creative expression.
